Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer ensures that products and processes meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements within a highly technical manufacturing environment. This role focuses on developing and maintaining robust quality systems, analyzing and resolving quality issues, collaborating with suppliers, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact product performance and end-user safety.
Responsibilities Include
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits as required.
- Oversee and perform inspections of materials, products, and processes to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Develop and implement testing protocols and quality standards.
- Investigate and resolve product quality issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor and report on non-conformance issues and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure material and component quality meets specifications.
- Conduct supplier audits and assist in supplier development initiatives.
- Lead quality improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization to enhance efficiency and reduce defects.
- Maintain accurate records of quality control processes, audits, and test results.
- Prepare quality reports and present findings to management and stakeholders.
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years experience working as a Quality Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
- Strong understanding of quality systems, 5S methodologies, and tools such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
- ASQ CQE certification or equivalent experience
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes such as 8D, Fishbone, and 5-Why
- Experience with Measurement System Analysis (MSA) including Gage R&R
- Experience with Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Experience with statistical software such as SQC Pack or Minitab®
- Good understanding of control plans
- Continuous Improvement exposure
Preferred Skills
- ASQ or CQE certification or equivalent experience
- Proficient in measurement, inspection and testing methods, calibration
- DOD- familiarity with government contracts
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in relevant industries (e.g., FDA, AS9100, IATF 16949)
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $45.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
