Overview
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is seeking an Economic Analyst to provide data‑driven research that informs the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and the Beige Book. The analyst will blend research, policy advisory, and storytelling to shape monetary policy and convey regional economic insights nationally.
Responsibilities- Researcher
:
Identify open questions, design research methodologies, wrangle datasets, conduct rigorous statistical and econometric analyses, and collaborate on projects from conception to publication. - Policy Advisor
:
Provide timely insights on Fourth District economic conditions, support the Bank president’s preparation for FOMC meetings, and contribute expert perspectives to the Beige Book. - Storyteller
:
Author compelling articles and reports, craft presentations that translate complex concepts into accessible narratives, and communicate with audiences ranging from community stakeholders to PhD economists.
- Educational Foundation
:
Master’s degree in economics or a related field (preferred);
Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience considered. - Professional Experience
: 5+ years conducting economic or policy research; demonstrated expertise in economic fields; familiarity with monetary policy and macroeconomics. - Technical Excellence
:
Strong command of statistical and econometric methods; proficiency in analytical tools such as Stata, R, or Python; experience managing complex datasets. - Communication Mastery
:
Exceptional writing skills, proven ability to make technical content accessible; track record of research publications or policy communication; confidence presenting to technical and non‑technical audiences. - Working Style
:
Independent yet collaborative; intellectual curiosity and proactive problem‑solving; commitment to rigorous, objective analysis.
Salary range:
Economic Analyst I – $90,500 to $113,100 annually;
