Counter Sales Associate Reports to Store Manager
The Counter Sales Associate is a key position that is responsible for independently completing day-to-day functions of the store.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES- Sales: Conduct all counter sales and phone order fulfillments. Increase store sales by calling customers to generate business per store manager direction.
- Customer Service: Furnish information to customers about existing and new products to satisfy their needs. Anticipate a customer’s needs and provide solutions using Central products.
- Facilities Management: Maintain store and yard appearance and cleanliness, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning facilities in line with company expectations. Proactively identify potential safety issues and bring them to the manager’s attention.
- Inventory: Maintain and verify proper levels of inventory by assisting with cycle counts, inventory spot counts, and end‑of‑day processes. Assist delivery personnel in pulling orders and loading trucks. Unload inventory deliveries when required.
- General Support: Communicate with store manager about customers and store operations. Help with collections. Assist Store Manager when needed; may be required for deliveries and general warehouse cleaning/sweeping.
- Administration: Invoicing and general paperwork.
- Business Knowledge: Have strong knowledge of all company product lines and actively work to become an expert in one or more business lines.
Meaningful experience in retail and/or distribution services in irrigation or landscaping. Demonstrated success dealing with customers in a professional/friendly manner. Able to teach/guide part‑time/seasonal help and drivers. Ability to multi‑task. Ability to take direction with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION AND OR TRAINING REQUIREMENTSHigh School diploma/GED. Valid driver license. Ability to read and research parts in parts manual and on internal business software system. Applicant must have good communication, interpersonal and phone skills to assist both call‑in and walk‑in customers in an courteous and professional manner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTSThe Company has determined that the regular job duties of this position require and impose various physical demands. The physical requirements for this position include the following:
Requires consistently lifting large and heavy boxes, bags and pipe and repeatedly loading and unloading large boxes throughout the shift. Must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. safely without assistance and to push and pull up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment. Requires significant demands on these physical requirements throughout the entire work shift and requires tasks to be performed in all types of weather conditions.
Compensation: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
