Account Planning

The Business Development Representative will understand the market they operate in and work to identify, onboard, and grow new customers to the Fleet Pride network. They will assess the competitive situation in the account—including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats—and educate the customer on Fleet Pride’s value. Accounts are maintained and updated during the year per the specified cadence (e.g., monthly, quarterly), and updates are socialized internally to receive feedback from managers and peers.

Call

Planning

The Business Development Representative determines the objective of the sales call ahead of the call, prepares by anticipating barriers and planning how to overcome them, and leverages sales force automation tools to set call objectives, discussion topics, and preparation areas. After the call, the OSR uses the CRM and supporting tools to record focused and accurate call details and post-call results efficiently.

Customer

Needs and Assessment

The Business Development Representative asks simple, direct, open-ended questions, observes current and future sales opportunities, and employs questions about the customer’s business to uncover expansion opportunities and future needs. They establish trust and engage customers in discussion of account business needs.

Value of Fleet Pride

The Business Development Representative keeps an open dialogue with customers to continue driving value, communicates how Fleet Pride delivers value, and gathers feedback to identify ways to increase mutual value, including incremental needs and opportunities.

Teamwork

The Business Development Representative identifies appropriate teams and resources, leverages catalogs, call centers, third‑party information, branch expertise, and other subject matter experts, and maximizes business results. They elevate customer issues to the correct resources for resolution while serving as a conduit between Fleet Pride and the customer.

Product Knowledge

The Business Development Representative understands the major parts offered, how parts interrelate, and which are complementary. They recognize strengths and weaknesses of Fleet Pride’s offers compared to competitive products, turning competitive differences into advantages, and lead customers to the best fit solution. They proactively seek to improve product knowledge through interaction with internal and external subject matter experts.

Education & Training

High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required, with a bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

1 year of B2B sales experience preferred.

  • Ability to identify new prospects and support them through the sales process.
  • Expert in handling objections and cultivating new customer relationships.
  • Heavy-duty equipment distribution sales or related industry experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
  • Demonstrated mechanical inclination and interest in Fleet Pride’s industry.
  • Experience with CRM and other sales force automation tools is a plus.
  • MS Office Suite proficiency with ability to conduct basic database tasks in Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
