Thoracic Oncology Sales Consultant II/Sr.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $222,000. The position may be eligible for a role‑specific discretionary bonus, relocation, and/or other compensation elements. A benefits overview can be obtained upon request.

Description

As an employee of Boehringer Ingelheim, you will contribute to the discovery, development, and delivery of our oncology products to patients and customers. Your work will support the company’s mission to improve patient outcomes worldwide.

Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Expertise

The OSC demonstrates complete and exceptional knowledge of BIPI Oncology products and marketplace knowledge, translating product knowledge into effective sales presentations that provide customer‑focused solutions. As a trusted oncology consultant, the OSC is valued by customers as a partner who executes brand strategies to support appropriate patient identification and consistent company sales.

Strategic Account Planning & Value‑Based Selling

The OSC develops strategic account plans to support Oncology Health Care Professionals and Oncology accounts. These plans deeply explore customer opportunities, identify key stakeholders, and develop short‑term and long‑term activities to improve relationships and account growth. The OSC enables value‑based discussions with HCPs to support understanding of needs, opportunities, and problem solving.

Business Acumen and Cross‑Functional Collaboration

The OSC identifies key territory business needs, develops strategic business plans, and coordinates with internal functions such as Direct Manager, Oncology Marketing Team, Regional Marketing, National and Strategic Accounts, and other BI internal personnel. The OSC consistently monitors and updates local plans to optimize territory opportunities, manages territory budget, and supports development of regional and territory thought leaders.

Execution and Administration

The OSC analyzes territory information, monitors local market conditions, and employs tools such as Octopoda, VEEVA, and Multichannel Engagement to achieve execution goals. The OSC completes all administrative responsibilities, demonstrates regional leadership, and meets all training requirements in advance of due dates.

Strategic Account Management

The OSC demonstrates knowledge of BIPI Oncology accounts and translates account-based knowledge into profiling and execution. The OSC is customer‑focused, prioritizing solutions‑based options for each client.

Understanding Patient Journey

The OSC demonstrates deep knowledge of market dynamics that influence referral processes, patient identification, key stakeholders, and all involved in delivering oncology‑recommended treatments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.

For OSC II:
Minimum 5 years of successful US pharmaceutical sales experience in primary care, specialty care, or institutional sales, including at least 1 year in oncology, or 3 years working with organized customers across the care network and strategic account management skills.

For Senior OSC:
Minimum 7 years of successful US pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 3 years in oncology sales. Requires at least 1 year of experience demonstrating account management, leveraging HUB services, collaborating with specialty pharmacies, supporting reimbursement navigation, fostering market development, and engaging regional Key External Experts.

Additional qualifications:

experience in virtual platform engagement, strategic account management with complex customers, successful product launch experience (preferred), experience in rare disease markets (preferred), strong communication skills, ability to travel at least 25% with overnights, willingness to attend weekend programs.

Self‑directed worker in a day‑to‑day operations environment. Must develop and maintain relationships with oncologists and all oncology health care providers, remain current with evolving oncology marketplace changes, and maintain in‑depth knowledge of oncology science and competitive therapies.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical (if required).
