AboutThe Role
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a strategic partner within Biogen’s Medical Affairs team, responsible for informing medical practice across therapeutic areas and the pipeline to improve patient outcomes. The MSL engages with Key Medical Experts (KMEs) and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) to convey the clinical and scientific narrative for Biogen’s therapies, fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that mirrors the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a credible medical/scientific expert engaging KME and HCP to enhance decision‑making regarding disease states and Biogen’s products.
- Build deep, strategic, long‑term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, positioning oneself as a partner rather than a transactional contact.
- Act as a “partner in the trenches,” remaining responsive and solutions‑driven for leaders in the medical community.
- Engage in projects and initiatives aligned with US Medical strategy, objectives, and tactics.
- Meet qualitative and quantitative medical excellence performance goals, deliver on KME engagement plans, and capture/report insights using Veeva with accuracy and consistency.
- Advanced Scientific or Clinical degree; doctoral level required (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP).
- Field Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience required.
- Must reside within the Eastern United States territory.
- Excellent communication skills: concise, confident, credible, attentive, and adaptable to diverse audiences.
- Comfortable with technology and eager to learn and leverage new tools and systems.
- Accountable delivery against goals and KPIs, viewing metrics as opportunities to convey value.
- Adherence to industry ethics and regulations for patient benefit.
- Willingness to travel at least 60% of the time, including overnight stays and occasional weekend travel.
- Minimum 18 years of age, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and authorization to drive a company vehicle or rental.
- Clinical experience and subject‑matter expertise in the therapeutic area of focus.
- Expertise in hematology, particularly paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and complement‑mediated diseases.

Base salary range: $ – $, determined by skills, experience, location, and internal equity. Regular employees are eligible for short‑term and long‑term incentives, including cash bonus and equity opportunities.
