Research Scientist, Lab Tech / Assistant
As a Customer Support Lab Technician, you will provide routine and complex technical services in support of the customer support team for the DCS accounts. You will work independently or in concert with team chemists or other PPG personnel to plan, construct, test and document assignments involving the use of learned skills in support of team projects. You will prepare samples for evaluation and formulation support on projects for customer issues, production troubleshooting, new formula development, validation or improvement.
The primary responsibilities will include making formulations and mixing wet paint, reducing/spraying paint samples, and adjusting the samples for color or other properties to an identified target, as well as testing test panels.
The base salary range for this position is $50,000 to $52,000, with the possibility of an annual bonus up to 2.5% of base salary. - Adhere to all PPG safety protocols and encourage a broad safety culture in a laboratory work environment
- Independently plan and organize tasks following discussion with chemist or supervisor on objectives of a project
- Make, spray and test samples to meet project objectives and product specifications
- Interact with team members for new objectives on project work and contribute to planning of experiments
- Observe results and can analyze and document clearly and independently. Communicate results promptly to laboratory personnel in a team environment to permit them to meet scheduled commitments
- Make recommendations or assist with troubleshooting based on learned product knowledge
- Master routine procedures, tests and application of samples for project work
- Maintain laboratory equipment in clean condition
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 2+ years working in an industrial facility/setting preferred.
- Previous lab experience preferred.
