Overview
The Building Maintenance Engineer I is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all building systems within a commercial property. This position performs preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
Location:
Key Center, Cleveland, OH, US.
- Perform entry level preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical items such as pumps, motors, valves, seals, gaskets, filters, piping, hot water tanks, and fan boxes.
- Make adjustments and changes to HVAC central plant and controls and related equipment to maintain building standards and support the operation of the building chiller plant.
- Perform light carpentry and drywall repairs. Painting skills may be required.
- Perform basic repairs on security devices such as locks, card readers, and door strikes.
- Read instruction manuals, schematics, and drawings.
- Verify and maintain operation logs, record keeping, documentation and files; identify and correct abnormalities.
- Familiarity with pneumatic controls and VAV boxes is a plus.
- Provide full and complete details with the CMMS system.
- Perform generator and fire pump tests.
- Maintain professional and courteous relations with others.
- Understand all property emergency procedures including standby power and fire alarm; be familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the fire and emergency rescue teams.
- Actively participate in required training.
- Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to promote a clean, safe, and secure environment.
- Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
- Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and report them to management and safety personnel.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or trade school preferred.
- 2 years related experience.
- Utilizes troubleshooting tools and understands temperature and flow instrumentation.
- Knowledge and proper use of basic and advanced hand tools.
- Understanding blueprints and schematics.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain calm demeanor in emergency situations.
- EPA CFC Universal Certification Technician certificate is preferred.
- Computer skills are necessary to utilize BAS and CMMS systems.
- Exceptional written, typed, and verbal communication skills.

Hours of Work & Travel
Must be able to work varied shifts as needed to cover during regular business hours, including weekends and evenings.
