Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolve problems, and ensure complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers and follows company guidelines to maintain high standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under general supervision to perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Diagnose and perform services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories.
  • Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to identify potential problems and prevent premature or unexpected breakdowns.
  • Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required.
  • Deliver and remove parts and equipment needed to complete service work.
  • Use hand‑held devices to record all required information on the customer call and complete all forms and paperwork in a neat, timely, complete, and accurate manner.
  • Collect payment from customers.
  • Communicate with dispatch while on duty to provide accurate status reports of activities and availability.
  • Provide excellent customer service and sustain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Promote products and services to customers and call Sales and Service Coordinator with replacement product sales leads generated from customer service visits.
  • Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and properly accounted for.
  • Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and activities.
  • Follow standard procedures and processes, maintain proper vehicle stock, return defective warranty parts to the branch, and replenish vehicle stock as needed.
  • Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance.

Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with additional training and 10+ years’ experience in HVAC with technical training certification required.
  • Valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local laws and regulations for the geographic work area.
  • EPA and safety certifications required.
  • Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and related accessories.
  • Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment.
  • Proficient at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting problems with electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
  • Proficient at properly starting up and balancing airflow and aligning belts and pulleys on all systems with little to no supervision.
  • Proficient at installing a basic duct fitting.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting and repairing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision.
  • Effective communication skills to resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns.
  • Effective and efficient time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Availability to work flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.
  • Physical abilities: stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs; maneuver in attics, basements, crawl spaces; continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl; work in hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery, heights, congested areas; safely climb 300lb load‑capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt; vision suitable for close and distance work; lift up to 75lb and carry items up to 50lb.
  • Minimum experience:

    6+ years.
  • Minimum education:

    High School Diploma/GED.
