Position Overview:
Help shape the future of transportation in Cleveland. As a Commissioning Technician supporting next-generation electric Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs), you'll play a hands-on role in keeping the city moving safely, reliably, and efficiently. This is an opportunity to work with innovative rail technology, solve real-world technical challenges, and make a direct impact on the daily travel experience of the community.
If you enjoy troubleshooting, take pride in hands-on technical work, and have experience with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, this is a chance to bring your skills to a team focused on delivering cleaner, smarter, and more dependable transportation solutions.
What your day-to-day will look like:
* Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on LRVs using mechanical drawings, schematics, circuit location plans, shop machinery, and hand tools.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in LRV control circuits and onboard systems using Portable Test Units (PTUs), laptops, and other diagnostic tools.
* Determine corrective actions, make job recommendations, and clearly communicate technical updates verbally and in writing.
* Read, interpret, and maintain written or electronic documentation while compiling accurate reports.
* Follow company and industry safety standards while collaborating with and supporting team members as needed.
This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.
To thrive in this role, you have:
* High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
* Strong proficiency in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting.
* Valid driver's license in good standing.
* Must be at least 21 years of age to participate in the Siemens vehicle plan.
Candidates should be willing to work in non-climate-controlled environments and inclement weather if required or if applicable.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Purpose is the reason a company exists. It's not about making money or selling products - it's the deeper "why" behind everything we do. It answers the question:
What problem are we solving? What positive change are we creating?
For Siemens, our purpose has been clear for over 175 years:
We create technology to transform the everyday, for everyone.
The world needs technologies that work. Technologies that matter. Technologies that solve today's challenges and help shape a better tomorrow. And that's exactly what we build. By bringing together the real world (factories, buildings, power grids, trains) with the digital world (software, data, AI, digital twins), we help our customers become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable.
Our technology is everywhere - in trains and transportation, we help move people faster, safer, and more sustainably.
