SALARY: $33.39 - $53.45 per hour.

This application is not for an immediate opening. PERFORMANCE EXAMINATION: Candidates will be notified of the time, date, and place of the examination. This portion of the test will be worth 70% of the candidate’s total score.

Applicants will need to bring the following items to the exam:

• Tape measure
• Handsaw
• Hammer and nails
• Bull float
• Edger
• Jointer
• Hand floats
• Straight edge

EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: An experience evaluation consists of a quantitative assessment of an applicant’s academic training and experience pertinent to the classification.

Under supervision, prep beds for and lay various types of brick and stone block pavements. Perform related duties as required. Typical tasks include preparing sub-base, laying brick, stone, and other block pavement materials, grading and leveling sand for paving bases, sorting defective bricks, supervising pounders and laborers, and supervising tamping of sub-base and paving.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Four years of full‑time paid commercial concrete work (roadways or building) required.

Valid State of Ohio driver’s license required.

Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 70 pounds.

Reminder:
Minimum qualifications must be met as of the last day of the accepting applications. You must upload these documents at the time of submitting your application or email the documents to CS and include the job title in the email.

An applicant who graduated from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and is participating in an open competitive entrance‑level examination will receive an additional five points upon achieving a passing score. Applicants must provide acceptable proof of graduation from a CMSD school at the time of application to qualify for this credit.

Veterans’ preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F, and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214 must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing the application for the examination. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions, five points will be added to their raw score on the examination;

if the documentation indicates more than fifteen percent service‑connected disability, ten points will be added. Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge and dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.
