CMS Controls - OHIO is a Building Automation System (BAS) Controls Service Technician role. CMS Controls was founded in 1971 to provide in‑house technical solutions utilizing open platforms. From holistic design‑build projects to mechanical systems installations to proactive maintenance plans, we partner with clients to identify current behaviors and define strategic goals, which create cost savings and keep buildings performing at optimal levels.
CMS Controls is a subsidiary of Service Logic and provides access to a full team of controls engineers, mechanical, electrical and project engineers and HVAC service technicians.
We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented BAS Controls Service Technician to join our dynamic team in Northeast OH
. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and process automation controls. The ideal candidate will possess in‑depth knowledge of HVAC systems, control systems, and networking, with a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients.
- Install, configure, and program BAS controllers, sensors, actuators, and related equipment.
- Integrate new and legacy systems, ensuring seamless interoperability with existing infrastructure.
- Develop and modify control sequences of operations using BAS programming tools (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or similar platforms).
- Commission systems to verify functionality, including point‑to‑point testing, calibration, and system optimization.
- Diagnose and resolve system issues, including hardware, software, and network‑related problems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system updates to ensure optimal performance and compliance with client requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide technical support.
- Train end‑users on BAS operation and provide ongoing support as required.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including system schematics, programming changes, and service logs.
- Provide clear and timely reports to supervisors and clients regarding project status and service outcomes.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in HVAC, controls, electronics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience with BAS or process automation systems.
- Proficiency with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Distech, ASI, Siemens Desigo, Honeywell, Johnson Controls Metasys and FX, or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical controls, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, Lon Works, etc.).
- Knowledge of IP networking, switches, and system integration.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer‑focused attitude with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Certifications such as Niagara N4, Distech, Honeywell Spyder, Johnson Controls FX, or Siemens APOGEE are highly desirable.
- Experience with energy management and optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with industrial process automation, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
$30.00‑$60.00 /hour commensurate with experience and certifications
