Job Description:

ODOT Master Mechanic, District 12, Cuyahoga County
- District Garage
- Floater Position - PN

What You Will Do:

Perform major overhauls of gasoline and/or diesel engines. Provide on-the-job training to lower-level mechanics. Diagnose and troubleshoot, replace and/or repair electronic systems. Work collaboratively across the district with other maintenance garages. Employee report-in location will remain the same. However, this position will require flexibility in day-to-day assigned work locations depending on fleet status. The individual can expect to assist with fleet projects at other maintenance locations within the district, providing support and helping co-workers keep operations at our best.

Qualifications:

48 mos. exp. in repair & maintenance of variety of vehicles &/or agency-identified equipment; valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.

-Or 24 months exp. as ODOT Mechanic, 52152; valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio Revised Code.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above, except for mandated licensure.

Note:

The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis before appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio Revised Code. Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio Revised Code.

Automotive Supplemental Information The selection process for this position will include a structured interview. Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract. This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards. All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period. The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check.

An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration. All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment.
