Job Description & How to Apply Below

Rock The House is a nationally recognized Live Event production group working at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and immersive entertainment. We create experiences that hit differently, significantly, and dramatically.

Through our full suite of services:
Production, Experiential, Rental, Talent, and Installation
, we produce corporate conferences for Fortune 500 brands, festivals seen by millions, the nation's most significant gatherings, and exclusive social events. The events we are part of outlast the keynote, the setlist, or the moment itself.

Our niche is where stakes run high and the margin for error sits at zero.

Cleveland-based with a global portfolio. Rooted in Midwest grit. Ready to go wherever our clients take us.

THE ROLE - Fix it, ship it, or hand it off

We're an entertainment company, so our gear goes beyond the typical A/V shop: moving lights, speakers, and video walls, sure, but also DJ equipment, claw machines, and a lineup of large and unique arcade-style games you won't find anywhere else. It all goes out the door and back roughly 1,500 times a year, and your job is to keep it event-ready.

You’ll diagnose problems, fix what makes sense to fix in-house, and make the smart call on what doesn’t. This role is as much about judgment as it is about technical skill: knowing when a repair is a 30-minute bench fix, when it needs to go back to the manufacturer, and when it's a basic task that warehouse or temporary labor can handle once you've shown them how.

The best person in this seat is a sharp triage officer, not a lone hero who tries to fix everything personally.

If you’re a musician or tinkerer who loves taking small machines apart and understanding how they work — a moving light is exactly that — this job was built for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Diagnose and repair audio, lighting, and video equipment — speaker repair, moving light maintenance, DJ gear, in-house electrical, and general small-machine work — plus non-traditional items like claw machines and other large interactive games.
  • Triage smartly. Quickly determine what gets fixed in-house vs. sent out. Time matters: a repair that drags on for weeks on your bench should have been an RMA on day one.
  • Own manufacturer relationships. File and ship RMA tickets, manage warranty repairs, and follow outsourced fixes through to completion.
  • Keep meticulous maintenance and repair logs. Documentation and organization are non-negotiable in this role — our whole operation depends on knowing the history and status of every piece of gear.
  • Lead warehouse and temporary labor on basic repair and QC tasks — cable repair, soldering, QC inspection — training them on the repeatable work so your time stays focused on skilled repairs.
  • Build and oversee the QC and diagnosis process for gear going out and coming back from events.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to catch problems before they hit an event.
  • Manage repair parts inventory and ordering.
  • Participate in the Emergency On-Call Technician rotation as needed.
WHAT MAKES SOMEONE GREAT AT THIS
  • You know the difference between a repair worth your time and one that isn't — and you act on it.
  • You document everything. If it's not in the log, it didn't happen.
  • You'd rather show someone how to solder a cable than solder every cable yourself.
  • You genuinely enjoy figuring out how machines work.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years in equipment repair or a related field; audio, lighting, and video experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organization, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, soldering, cable termination, and basic electrical work.
  • Basic machinery maintenance knowledge (motors, fans, moving parts).
  • Comfort with heights; able to lift 50+ lbs and stay on your feet.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • DOT certification plus tow motor and scissor lift operation (obtained within first 90 days).
  • Familiarity with AV consoles, networking, and installations a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the year.
WAGE
  • $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience
