Job Summary
Provides telephonic/virtual, and/or face‑to‑face EAP counseling, workplace coaching, HR consultation, resource coordination, and case management for Employee Assistance Program members. Partners with Human Resources and organizational leaders in an EAP advisory capacity, offering guidance on employee behavioral concerns, work performance impact, workplace risk, and supportive intervention strategies, while maintaining confidentiality and clinical integrity.
Responsibilities- Conducts telephonic triage and assessment, providing in the moment support to members on issues, including but not limited to behavioral health, substance abuse, relationship, and work‑life, and coordinates resources.
- Coordinates and completes case management of intakes.
- Makes clinical determinations in adherence with Company risk policy and in the member and Company’s best interest.
- Provides referrals to service provider network and/or other resources as appropriate for financial concerns, legal concerns, personal assistant, and work‑life requests.
- As assigned, provides face to face and telehealth intake assessments triage, coaching, brief solution‑focused counseling to members on issues, including but not limited to behavioral health, substance abuse, relationship, and work‑life issues.
- Assists co‑workers/after hours vendor with case completion and follow up.
- Consults with service providers to make referrals and complete session authorizations. Follows cases to completion.
- Utilizes computer‑based case management system to complete professional documentation.
- Consults with Human Resources and supervisory personnel from client companies regarding employee issues and concerns.
- Provides EAP‑based consultation to Human Resources, managers, and supervisors regarding employee behavioral concerns, work performance impact, workplace conflict, fitness‑for‑duty considerations, and return‑to‑work support.
- Offers practical guidance within an EAP scope, balancing employee well‑being, organizational risk, and confidentiality.
- Maintains industry knowledge, ethical code, and licensure requirements in the state of licensure.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in behavioral health field (social work, psychology, counseling, or related field).
- 5 years of experience as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor or equivalent behavioral health clinical experience.
- Licensed Mental Health Clinician, Certified HR Professional, or Certified EAP Counselor preferred (or other industry recognized licenses: psychology, social work, etc.).
- Active, current, and unrestricted license in the state employed may be required for face‑to‑face counseling.
- Assessment, triage, in the moment support, research and case management skills.
- Intermediate proficiency using Windows‑based programs and applications, including Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of behavioral health conditions, levels of care, and discharge planning.
- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Protected Health Information (PHI) regulations.
