Women Safe Inc., the Green House, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emergency shelter and comprehensive support services to survivors of domestic violence across Northeast Ohio. The organization offers a safe, confidential environment along with counseling, advocacy, and resources that promote healing and long-term stability. Women Safe partners with community agencies, legal systems, and healthcare providers to ensure that survivors receive coordinated, trauma-informed care.

The Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Cleveland, providing direct, trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic violence. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing individualized service plans, and offering individual and group counseling sessions. The Counselor will provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and ongoing emotional support, while maintaining accurate and confidential documentation. This role collaborates closely with shelter staff, community partners, and other service providers to connect clients with legal, medical, housing, and social service resources.

The Counselor also participates in case reviews, staff meetings, and training to ensure high-quality, client-centered care.

• Demonstrated skills in counseling, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to conduct assessments, develop service plans, and maintain thorough, confidential records.
• Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills for working with diverse survivors and community partners.
• Capacity to manage multiple cases, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced shelter environment.
• Understanding of domestic violence dynamics, survivor-centered advocacy, and community resource navigation.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field; master’s degree or licensure (LPC, LSW, LISW, LPCC) is preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit, social services, or domestic violence programs is strongly beneficial.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, practice cultural humility, and uphold confidentiality and ethical standards.
