Job Summary

The Lead Safe Child Care Engagement Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for participating child care providers and families throughout the Lead Safe Child Care process—from recruitment and onboarding through construction and project completion. The Specialist builds relationships with providers, families, and community partners; coordinates communication and support throughout construction and temporary closures; connects participants to resources; and manages provider and family stipends and other available supports.

The role also leads provider education, family engagement, community outreach, and partnership development.

This position requires initiative, creativity, flexibility, and strong problem-solving skills to respond to participant needs, navigate changing circumstances, and develop effective approaches to engagement.

Duties & Responsibilities Provider & Family Support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participating providers and families through phone, email, and in-person communication.
  • Build relationships and guide providers through onboarding, project preparation, construction, clearance, and completion.
  • Coordinate with the Project Specialist and construction team to communicate project requirements, timelines, and temporary closures.
  • Help providers and families navigate disruptions to child care and connect them with available resources and supports.
  • Manage provider and family stipends and other program supports.
  • Provide resource navigation, referrals, and connections to Starting Point services and community resources.
  • Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing program engagement.
Community Engagement, Education & Outreach
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and resource networks that support participating providers and families.
  • Identify and participate in community events, outreach opportunities, and partnerships that increase program awareness and engagement.
  • Coordinate and facilitate provider orientations, trainings, professional development, and lead-safety education.
  • Support family engagement activities, community meetings, lead screening/testing opportunities, and other program events.
  • Represent Lead Safe Child Care at community meetings, resource fairs, and partner events.
  • Develop culturally responsive and accessible education and engagement materials.
Program Coordination & Documentation
  • Collaborate with the Director, Project Specialist, and program team to coordinate participant needs with project timelines and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of provider and family engagement, stipends, referrals, outreach, and follow-up in Salesforce and other tracking systems.
  • Collect participant feedback and identify opportunities to improve services and the participant experience.
  • Track engagement activities and outcomes and contribute to program reporting.
  • Stay current on lead poisoning prevention, child care safety, community resources, and relevant local initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Public Health, Communications, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Community Development, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in community engagement, early childhood education, family engagement, outreach, public health, human services, or a related field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, relationship-building, and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Ability to navigate challenging conversations, competing priorities, and changing circumstances with professionalism, empathy, sound judgment, and appropriate boundaries.
