Shift Available:

Weekend - 10 AM to 8 PM Friday-Monday with the ability to cover 7 AM to 5 PM or 1 PM to 11 PM.

About the Role

The Shift Supervisor provides leadership and oversight of residential unit operations during assigned shifts, supervising Residential Treatment Specialists and ensuring the consistent implementation of trauma-informed care, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) practices, and restraint reduction strategies. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for maintaining program structure, modeling emotional regulation and professional behavior, directing staff during crisis situations, and ensuring the safety and well‑being of youth and staff within the residential environment.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or GED;

A Bachelor’s degree program, in a related field, may substitute for experience

License or Certification

At least 3 years in residential or behavioral health setting

At least 1 year supervisory experience

Other

Valid driver license in the State of Ohio with an acceptable driving record

Successful completion of all required post-offer background checks

Current TB skin test or equivalent showing no signs or symptoms of tuberculosis upon first day of work

Successful completion of the following training courses or certifications within 30 days of starting work

Skills Leadership and Supervision

Provides direct supervision and leadership to Residential Treatment Specialists I, II, and III during assigned shifts.

Establishes clear expectations for staff performance, professional conduct, and program structure.

Delegates responsibilities and coordinates staff assignments to ensure safe and effective unit operations.

Provides real‑time direction and guidance to staff during routine programming and crisis situations.

Monitors staff adherence to program expectations, policies, and procedures.

Models professionalism, accountability, and appropriate professional boundaries.

Addresses staff concerns, questions, and operational issues during the shift.

Maintains clear awareness of youth supervision and staffing coverage at all times .

Program Operations and Oversight

Ensures residential routines, schedules, and program expectations are consistently implemented.

Maintains awareness of youth whereabouts, activities, and participation in programming.

Ensures appropriate supervision and safety within the residential unit environment. Monitors the condition and safety of the unit environment.

Reviews incident documentation and shift reports for accuracy and completeness.

Communicates significant events , safety concerns, and operational updates to leadership and incoming shifts.

Emotional Regulation and Professional Modeling

Demonstrates advanced emotional self‑regulation and maintains a calm presence during stressful or crisis situations.

Models appropriate emotional responses and problem‑solving strategies for staff and youth.

Supports staff in maintaining emotional regulation when responding to challenging youth behavior.

Promotes respectful communication and professional interactions among staff and youth.

Maintains situational awareness and sound judgment in high‑stress situations.

Supports post‑crisis debriefing and reflection Crisis Response and Restraint Reduction Leadership

Demonstrates strong understanding of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Stress Model of Crisis.

Guides staff in recognizing early signs of escalation and implementing preventative strategies.

Directs staff in the use of verbal and non‑verbal de‑escalation techniques to prevent crisis situations.
