Java Software Engineer

Our client is a global leader in the manufacturing, distribution, and retail of paint and coatings, serving both retail and professional markets. This opportunity sits within the team responsible for custom applications supporting the company's automotive customers. As the business continues to invest in modernizing these customer-facing and internal tools, the team is adding senior full stack talent to support upcoming delivery needs.

This is a senior full stack developer seat on the custom application development team supporting the client's automotive customers. You will build and enhance applications using Java, Next.js, and React, working within an established Agile process in a complex, enterprise-scale environment where delivery quality and minimizing regression risk are top priorities.

This is a contract-to-hire engagement. Local candidates are preferred.

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack features across Java-based backend services and Next.js/React frontend applications.
• Contribute to enterprise application development and integration efforts connecting custom applications with surrounding systems.
• Participate fully in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and deliver against sprint commitments.
• Write and maintain automated tests to support strong quality assurance practices and prevent regressions in production systems.
• Collaborate with business analysts, project teams, and end users to ensure timely, high-quality delivery within defined requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects across the stack, balancing delivery speed with long-term code quality and stability.

• Advanced proficiency in Java.
• Advanced proficiency in Next.js.
• Strong working knowledge of Type Script.
• Experience with C#.
• Solid experience with React and modern web application development practices.
• Demonstrated experience working within Agile delivery methodologies.
• Background in enterprise application development and system integration.
• Strong testing practices, QA discipline, and regression prevention in production environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

• Experience in retail, manufacturing, or automotive industry environments.
• Experience integrating custom applications with ERP, CRM, or dealer/customer-facing systems.
• Located in the Cleveland, OH area.

• Contract-to-hire engagement, with potential for full-time conversion for strong performers.

The hourly pay range for this position is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific requirements of the role. Final rate will be discussed during the interview process.
