We are seeking an experienced Java Architect to design, develop, and guide the implementation of modern, scalable enterprise applications using microservices. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on with Java 17+, Spring Boot, reactive programming, Apache Kafka, Angular, and cloud technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, product owners, and enterprise architects to define technical solutions, establish architectural standards, and deliver secure, high‑performing, and maintainable applications.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Cleveland, OH/Pittsburgh, PA/Dallas, TX is $125k - $135k/year & benefits (see below).
TheRole Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable applications using Java 17 or higher and Spring Boot.
- Define and evolve microservices architecture, including service boundaries, communication patterns, resilience, scalability, and deployment strategies.
- Design and implement microfront end architecture for modern, modular, and independently deployable user interfaces.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Develop reactive and non‑blocking applications using Reactive Programming, Project Reactor, and Spring Web Flux.
- Design event‑driven systems and asynchronous communication using Apache Kafka.
- Guide the development of responsive and modular web applications using Angular.
- Establish architecture principles, design patterns, coding standards, and best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend suitable frameworks, tools, and technologies.
- Ensure applications meet requirements for performance, availability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Design RESTful APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
- Collaborate with Dev Ops teams to support CI/CD, containerization, monitoring, and automated deployments.
- Mentor developers and provide guidance on modern Java, Spring, microservices, and frontend development practices.
- Produce and maintain architecture documentation, technical specifications, and solution diagrams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven software development experience, with significant experience in Java‑based enterprise applications.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, Microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, Reactive programming and Spring Web Flux, Apache Kafka and Angular.
- Experience designing distributed, highly available, and fault‑tolerant systems.
- Strong knowledge of object‑oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Experience with microfront end concepts, such as Independent frontend deployment, Module Federation or similar technologies, Shared components and libraries and Frontend application integration
