Position Summary
A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver must ensure the vehicle complies with the company’s safety standards, adheres to all company, state and federal regulations, and completes vehicle condition reports (VCRs) daily.
Principal Responsibilities- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order and report any safety issues on standard reports.
- Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route to the disposal site, using route sheets and maps, and service each customer as identified or assigned.
- Operate manual or automatic controls in accordance with company safety policies to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
- Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them per departmental procedures.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
- Clean the area around accidental waste spills, following all safety standards and policies.
- Monitor the vehicle’s condition to maintain operational readiness and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports as required.
- Maintain adherence to required productivity standards to ensure all customers are serviced efficiently.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in the company’s ReSOP program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate good customer service skills and act professionally, courtesy and cooperatively toward customers and co-workers.
- Show good time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Follow work schedules and address challenges as they arise.
- Adhere to company policies, promote safety standards, and avoid taking inappropriate risks.
- Maintain pride in work and strive to achieve all goals.
- Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
Pay rate: $27.50/hr
