Cleveland Utilities Authority, a municipal utility providing electric, water, wastewater and fiber services to the Cleveland, Tennessee/Bradley County area, is seeking an Accounting Clerk I to provide accounting and clerical financial support to the General Accounting Department at Cleveland Utilities. The role performs a variety of accounting tasks focused in one or more of the following areas:
Banking and Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or Payroll Processing.
- Process, verify, and reconcile financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain and update records in the financial system
- Assist with monthly closings and year-end reporting processes
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and documentation standards
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure data accuracy
- Maintain accountability for meeting all required timelines related to financial processes
- Specific job duties will vary based on functional focuses listed below:
- Banking/Billing/Transaction Reconciliation
- Monitor and reconcile bank statements and internal accounts
- Investigate and resolve variances in daily deposits or receivables
- Support billing and invoicing processes
- Accounts Payable
- Review and process vendor invoices
- Ensure appropriate approvals and documentation
- Coordinate payment schedules and resolve discrepancies with vendors
- Payroll
- Review and enter timesheets or payroll data for accuracy
- Maintain employee compensation records in coordination with HR
- Process payroll runs and adjustments as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of General Accounting
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Associate’s degree (two-year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study:
Accounting or related field. - No prior experience necessary.
- This position requires basic computer skills and general knowledge of Microsoft systems such as Word, Excel, and Office 365.
