The Adult Education Student Support Specialist provides comprehensive support to adult learners across the college’s five‑county service area. The position promotes student success by identifying barriers, connecting students with resources, and providing individualized guidance and support. The Specialist works collaboratively with instructors, staff, and community partners to support student engagement, retention, persistence, and completion.
** The Adult Education Program is a grant‑funded initiative; therefore, employment is contingent upon the terms and duration of the grant contract. Employment is not guaranteed and may be terminated at the College’s discretion. All employees are required to review, sign, and adhere to the terms outlined in their employment contract.
Essential Job Functions Student Support (45%)- Provide individualized guidance and support throughout the enrollment, instructional, and completion process, including orientation, intake, registration, goal setting, scheduling, and navigation of Adult Education services.
- Establish positive relationships with students, monitor attendance and progress, and provide timely communication and referrals to promote engagement, persistence, retention, and completion.
- Respond to student inquiries and collaborate with instructors, staff, and community partners to coordinate services and address student needs.
- Maintain confidential student records, files, testing documentation, and program data in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and program requirements.
- Administer and proctor standardized assessments and official practice exams in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist with program reporting and ensure required documentation is complete, accurate, and current.
- Coordinate student appointments, orientations, testing sessions, and other program activities; provide office management coverage as needed.
- Support recruitment, community outreach, special events, and other activities that increase awareness and participation in Adult Education services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work activities routinely involve the use of standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, telephones, and other related devices. Employees are expected to perform tasks such as data entry, document preparation, email communication, and report generation using these tools.
