At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer’s unique job requests. Therefore, all field employees will be cross‑trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipe fitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. The focus of this position will be to install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, rigging plans, blueprints, or other drawings by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Dismantle machines.
- Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, airbags, and fork trucks.
- Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
- Construct foundation for machines; insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
- Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rulers, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Assemble machines and fasten them to foundations or other structures by bolting, welding, riveting, or other methods.
- Use various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders.
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
- Apply additional craft skills as necessary to meet customer needs.

Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, sit occasionally, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
Other DutiesOther duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice. This includes work on millwright, pipe fitting, welding, sheet metal, mechanical, and rigging projects.
