Position

The Foreman oversees the construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical systems to ensure assigned projects are completed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. This role requires knowledge and appropriate use of company policies and processes, proper care of company equipment, and on-the-job training of crew members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to crews to ensure safe, efficient, and quality operations. Thorough knowledge of safety policies and guidelines and ensure crew adherence.
  • Oversee overhead and underground distribution construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operations with extensive switching experience.
  • Install, troubleshoot, replace, and/or remove distribution equipment including transformers, capacitors, regulators, reclosers, switches, GOABs, CT/PT metering, and underground switch gear.
  • Plan work including manpower, equipment, and material needs, and develop look-ahead schedules.
  • Ensure work progress, equipment, and construction sites are safe, specifications are met, and work is on schedule.
  • Ensure tools and materials are properly utilized, cared for, and secured daily.
  • Collaborate with General Foreman, crew members, and customers to optimize technology, techniques, and equipment usage.
  • Provide assistance to crew members engaged in construction activities using hand tools or other equipment.
  • Ensure timely repairs to equipment and machinery to minimize delays and maintain safe working equipment.
  • Provide on-the-job training and development of crew members in construction methods, equipment operation, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Support General Foreman/Project Managers to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Suggest or initiate personnel actions and assist with recruiting qualified applicants; assign classifications according to demonstrated skills and abilities.
  • Understand and adhere to all company policies, processes, work practices, goals, and objectives; ensure crew members do the same.
  • Maintain positive relationships with crew members and customers; cultivate professional relationships with potential customers.
  • Complete and submit required forms and documentation, including Job Safety Analyses, driver logs, vehicle inspections, line tools/equipment inspections, timesheets, expense reports, incident reports, and work order redlining.
  • Ensure inspections of tools and equipment (e.g., rubber gloves, blankets, line hoses, insulated booms, hot line sticks, insulated handles) are performed as required.
  • Read and understand technical information, manuals, policies, procedures, work orders, blueprints, spec books, system maps, and diagrams.
  • Demonstrate planning/organizational skills, delegate work, and ensure project completion within deadlines.
  • Possess good mathematical skills and the ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Manage emergency situations, hazardous conditions, multiple priorities, and time constraints with composure and safety awareness.
  • Communicate effectively to relay expectations and company goals to crew members.
  • Provide leadership and training to assigned personnel in a safe, effective, and positive manner.
  • Demonstrate clear English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Be dependable and trustworthy.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

The work involves exposure to construction site conditions, with loud environments and potential exposure to inclement weather. The role may require long hours, weekend work, and travel for storm recovery, including overnight stays as dictated by workload and customer demand.

Position Type / Hours

This is a full-time position with potential for extended hours and travel as needed.

Travel

Regular weekly overnight travel is required; out-of-area and extended travel may be necessary based on customer demand and power outages related to natural disasters.

Key Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working on and around energized high-voltage primary electric lines
  • Valid CDL-A license with a clear driving record
Key Nice-To-Haves
  • Completion of an apprentice program or technical training as a lineman
  • Multiple years in a Journeyman Lineman classification
