Position: SENIOR CLERK - 64064706

Responsibilities

  • Provide general clerical, cashiering, and reception duties at the Clewiston location of Hendry County Health Department (CHD).
  • Maintain the electronic file system for Department of Health Hendry & Glades Counties, including sorting documents, scanning, and filing in appropriate electronic medical, environmental, and personnel files.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all records, complying with state and local policies and procedures.
  • Perform backup duties for other clerical positions and support additional CHD locations (LaBelle and Moore Haven) as required.
  • Prepare new electronic medical files: key, scan, and verify alphanumeric data accurately and efficiently from hard‑copy documents.
  • Copy, scan, fax documents, and sort/filing materials into HMS; maintain accurate logs and update the computerized system during record closure activities.
  • Assist in research records and trace documents as needed.
  • Work independently at the front desk: answer phones, screen and direct incoming calls and messages, greet clients and visitors, and provide interpreter services when requested.
  • Provide cashier services, including charging from super‑bill, collecting fees, balancing through HMS billing, and processing payments from Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, or other third‑party sources.
  • Manage and route emails, handle incoming calls forwarded to the front desk, and attend quality improvement activities, in‑service programs, and staff meetings.
  • Maintain and retrieve confidential medical records, ensuring timely filing in electronic medical records, and handle record release requests for clients.
  • Assist professional staff in coordinating clinics (Family Planning, Immunizations, Ryan White program) and act as clerical liaison with medical staff.
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing mail, courier bag duties, and process deliveries to the correct department.
  • Report any problems immediately using the established chain of command.

  • Ability to use equipment and supplies related to the position and perform basic arithmetic calculations.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
