Job Description
The Tribal Family & Child Advocacy program within the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Advocacy and Guardianship Department provides a comprehensive variety of Indian Child Welfare services. The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing immediate crisis intervention and stabilization for Tribal families with a child or children at imminent risk of danger. Tribal Family & Child Advocates provide in-home and out-of-home services to abused and/or neglected STOF children and their families in order to help them stay together.
Services include crisis intervention, case management, parenting skills training, child development education, assessment of the safety of the children, and counseling for issues such as domestic violence, drug abuse, mental illness, underdeveloped coping skills, relationship problems, and poor communication skills. The incumbent conducts thorough assessments of all abuse/neglect cases involving Tribal Community families; develops and implements successful intervention techniques; interacts with child protection agencies and/or investigators regarding abuse/neglect cases;
and provides counseling during crisis intervention and stabilization for families with a child or children at imminent risk of harm. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Case Management, or related field is required. Master's degree in Human services related field is highly preferred. Child welfare certification is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the Child Welfare field as social worker or case worker with family systems and/or community-based treatments is required.
Florida State License as a Clinical Social Worker (CSW), is preferred. Knowledge of the Indian Child Welfare Act and it applications is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required. Ability to speak the Creek and/or Miccosukee language is preferred. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
