Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Supervisor to lead our general ledger accounting operations and drive financial excellence. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the Accounting Director by overseeing daily core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing a high-performing accounting team. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with proven leadership capabilities and a passion for developing talent.
This role is focused primarily on general ledger and record to report accounting.
- Lead and oversee a team of senior corporate accountants and manage the daily operations of the team
- Review, approve, and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and prepare financial statements
- Spearhead the month-end process by posting adjusting journal entries, accruing expenses, and locking accounting periods to ensure data integrity before reporting
- Systematically verify balances across all balance sheet and income statement accounts (e.g., bank accounts, accounts receivable, prepaids) and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to track business performance and work closely with FP&A team
- Standardize and optimize account mapping when needed across the corporation, eliminating redundant or unnecessary accounts to streamline reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Maintain a flawless audit trail by ensuring every transaction is properly documented, supporting internal controls, and adhering to regulatory requirements
- Partner cross-functionally with other departments such as Treasury, AP/AR, FP&A, Tax, Data & Reporting, Legal and stakeholders
- Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability within the designated accounting function
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, and strategic initiatives
- Assist with preparing quarterly and annual financial presentations for senior leadership
- General duties assigned at the discretion of management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience focusing on the general ledger
- Experience supervising a team of accountants is required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Net Suite or Oracle highly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English
