Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, account reconciliations, portfolio reporting, and month-end close processes for the US Wholesale Accounting organization. This role works closely with the Senior Accountant and Accounting leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting while supporting analytical activities related to portfolio management, reserve calculations, budgeting support, and operational reporting.
The position serves as a key contributor to both Accounting and Finance functions by assisting with reporting, analysis, process improvement initiatives, and maintenance of effective internal controls.
Responsibilities- Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Support financial reporting, variance analysis, and performance reporting activities.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Support loan portfolio reporting, account analysis, and maintenance of portfolio schedules.
- Assist with preparation of reserve calculations, exposure reporting, and portfolio performance analyses.
- Monitor and validate loan-related transactions, funding activities, cash postings, and contractual earnings reporting.
- Prepare customer statements, portfolio reports, and recurring management reports.
- Support collection reporting, portfolio monitoring, and customer account analysis.
- Assist with audit requests and preparation of supporting documentation.
- Support maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Maintain and validate financial information within D365, Navision, BPC, and other reporting systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
- Assist with special projects, reporting initiatives, and ad hoc analysis as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 1-3 years working in the Accounting field
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially excel)
- Strong understanding of the relationship between income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Strong result orientation, pro-activity, self-motivated and ownership
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulations
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Commitment to continuous self, team, and process improvement
