Director of Sales and Business Development

Location:

Emmaus, PA | NYC | Newark, NJ (onsite) Position:
Full Time MUST HAVE

  • The client is looking for candidates with experience in paper products, janitorial/sanitation products, or food service supplies.
  • The ideal candidate does not necessarily need to come directly from a competitor but should have exposure to these product lines through a distributor, supplier, manufacturer, or a related industry.
  • Additionally, the client is looking for a Sales Director with experience in any of these product/service areas and is not requiring experience across all of them.
Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Director of Sales and Business Development

#1. Extensive experience in sales leadership, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving targets.

#2. Ability to manage a large group of territory managers.

#3. Ability to travel

#4. No more than 3 jobs in the past 10 years

Responsibilities for the Director of Sales and Business Development
  • Develop and execute the sales strategy for assigned territories to drive revenue growth and market expansion
  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of sales professionals, ensuring alignment with company goals and performance expectations
  • Establish accurate sales forecasts and monitor performance against targets
  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement through performance management and metrics tracking
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, with a focus on long-term partnership and customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with corporate functions and distribution or operational groups to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Identify and implement programs, tools, and processes to enhance sales effectiveness and efficiency
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform strategy
  • Ensure consistent execution of company initiatives and sales processes across the sales team
Requirements for the Director of Sales and Business Development
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, prefer MBA
  • Extensive experience in sales leadership, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving targets
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Industry experience in distribution or related sectors preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with or competing against major industry players
  • Background managing a large group of territory managers.
Other Key Requirements
  • Significant travel is expected
