Adjunct Instructor

The Fairleigh Dickinson University Academic Support Center seeks to hire part‑time faculty to teach multiple sections of its reading course in Fall 2024. The course, Critical Reading and Comprehension, is a one‑credit class designed to improve students’ academic reading and critical thinking skills so that they can independently study college‑level texts across disciplines. Placement into the course is determined by entrance exams, and students who enroll often need support to meet academic goals and adjust to the university environment.
Classes meet in‑person, once per week, on the Florham Campus in Madison, NJ and the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, NJ.
Eligibility to contribute toward a 403(b) plan, various fringe benefits (discounts on everyday goods and services, entertainment/dining discounts), and state benefits such as NJ Sick Leave and Short‑Term Disability.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree and experience teaching developmental reading and/or writing.
- High‑school teaching experience is encouraged.
- Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check; applicants must sign a waiver and provide a Social Security Card.
