Role Summary

As a Plant Engineer you will drive operational excellence through process optimization, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment and process issues, enhancing process safety, supporting production operations, and leading small capital projects to improve plant performance while ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical support for manufacturing processes, batches, and equipment (including boilers).
  • Lead the site’s Mechanical Integrity Program and participate in Pre‑Start Up Safety Reviews.
  • Manage and optimize production documentation and SOPs.
  • Initiate and manage capital projects, including appropriation requests.
  • Support quality investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products, raw materials, and processes.
  • Conduct and coordinate site training, emergency response planning, and safety audits.
  • Support the site’s Process Safety Management Program, RC14001 Program, and CFATS compliance.
  • Maintain and update P&IDs and oversee the Management of Change Program.
  • Back up the Plant Manager and support Production Planning and Warehouse functions as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience managing capital projects and leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and overlapping priorities.
  • Working knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and process safety regulations.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a chemical plant.
  • Welding experience and certifications.
  • Accreditation or certification for project management, OSHA, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of RC14001, Process Safety Management systems, and CFATS.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations including Lock Out Tag Out, Hot Work, and Confined Space Entry.
  • Experience with ASME/NBIC code welding, boiler and pressure vessel repair, or AWS/CWI weld inspection.
  • Experience with air‑operated diaphragm, centrifugal, positive displacement, and other pumps.
  • Experience with mechanical seals and seal pots for rotating equipment.
  • Experience with reactors, storage tanks, agitators, and materials handling equipment.
  • Experience operating or maintaining boilers, chillers, compressors, and water purification systems.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance (ultrasound, IR thermography, oil analysis, or vibration).
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Experience with basic electrical/electronic controls and instrumentation.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Must be medically certified to wear a negative‑pressure respirator and other PPE as required.
  • Will be subjected to extended periods of climbing ladders and stairways, sitting, kneeling, walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, moving and lifting up to 55 pounds.
