Contract Length: 2 years

Work Setup: Hybrid, with travel
Seeking a detail-oriented GIS Mapper to support the construction, operation, and maintenance of utility systems. This GIS Mapper role is ideal for someone with foundational GIS experience who enjoys working with asset data, mapping systems, and cross-functional field and office teams.
GIS Mapper Responsibilities
- Maintain the GIS connected model using data from work management systems, as-built drawings, work orders, completion records, field reports, and sponsor-provided documentation
- Perform data analysis and queries to prepare reports, tabulations, charts, and maps from connected model and asset data sources
- Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests with accurate system and asset information
- Maintain service point data and relationships to feeding source transformers
- Track utility asset lifecycle data, including history, inspections, and attachments
- Resolve conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through office or field investigation
- Support major utility projects such as facility relocations, load rearrangement, and new business
- Perform manual or computer-aided drafting, file related records, and assist with plant, field, or office work as needed
- Operate office equipment and, when required, a car or light truck
- 1 2 years of GIS Mapper or GIS-related experience through school or work
- Working knowledge of GIS systems, mapping, utility asset records, and data maintenance
- Ability to learn company business applications, equipment, and materials used in utility mapping work
- Understanding of utility transmission and distribution systems
- Ability to interpret operating, maintenance, and safety manuals related to the work
- Valid New Jersey driver s license and ability to maintain driving privileges
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Windows-based applications
- Willingness to work at various Client locations based on business needs and workload
- Experience supporting utility, electric, transmission, or distribution environments
- Familiarity with as-built construction drawings, work orders, and field documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills for resolving mapping and connectivity discrepancies
