We are seeking a self-directed, hands-on Junior Process and Product Development (PPD) Engineer who will assist in developing, commercializing, and optimizing custom products. The candidate selected will report directly to the Manager of PPD, working closely with internal and external customers and stakeholders to define product attributes, select raw materials, design product construction and processing conditions, run product trials, and launch new products.
Responsibilities:- Work with the sales team and customers to define product attributes and project scope.
- Plan and execute pilot and production level trials to determine and optimize process and manufacturing conditions.
- Work with external customers to evaluate raw material changes.
- Work with Quality Department to continuously improve product quality and address any quality issues.
- Work with Environmental Health and Safety Department to evaluate product and process risks.
- Confer with vendors to evaluate and select candidate raw material inputs for new products.
- Conduct mechanical testing (such as tensile strength, adhesion, and flexibility tests) to support product development and process optimization.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of trial setups, results, and findings.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (chemical, manufacturing, or material disciplines preferred).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical information.
- Well-versed Engineer Development in statistical analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant intern or co-op experience is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Driven self-starter who works with little supervision, can multitask and set priorities.
- Highly organized, with the ability to work on multiple projects, managing scope, tasks, and timelines.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Hands‑on experience with mechanical testing and lab equipment.
- Background or interest in manufacturing processes or materials science is a plus.
- A proactive and organized approach to tasks and responsibilities.
