Senior Portfolio Manager – Team Lead

The Senior Portfolio Manager – Team Lead is a key member of the Tax Credit Lending "coverage team," managing transactions and business portfolio tasks. PMs are expected to be intimately involved in the deal process, making recommendations on appropriate credit structures, pricing, etc. They are directly accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts through review of updated financial statements, proactive monitoring, and interaction with the Credit Analyst.

Responsibilities
  • Managerial responsibility for a team of PMs and Credit Analysts.
  • Accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts.
  • Review and recommend credit decisions.
  • Partner with the Relationship Manager to form the "coverage team" to meet with clients, participate in business development calls, assess prospective client viability for credit, define borrowers and guarantors, determine deal structure, credit terms and conditions, financial covenants and collateral value.
  • Generate commitment letters.
  • Provide business partners with credit lending policy interpretation.
  • Perform final risk rating analysis.
  • Capture and document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Analyst to perform portfolio management duties such as establishing and maintaining an Investor Group on the lender portal, monitoring actions, conducting periodic deal reviews, and executing decisions to renew or modify deals.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding credit events and actions as needed.
  • Work independently to pitch complex deal structures.
  • Maintain a focus on continuous learning to keep up with ever‑changing market dynamics.
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert and mentor to more junior PMs and Credit Analysts.
  • Leverage expertise to provide partners with insights into the Bank's various lines of business and related economics.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting).
  • At least 8 years of credit analysis and/or loan review experience in Commercial Banking, including various tax credit lending products, especially Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC).
  • Highly proficient analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Professional presence (client-facing).
  • Experience managing an advanced commercial client portfolio with a great deal of complexity.
  • Ability to partner with all deal stakeholders, including clients, relationship managers, and credit teams.
  • Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective problem solving.
  • Proficiency with technology and the ability to learn new applications.
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
  • Extended viewing of a CRT screen.
  • Some travel required.

Pay

Total Base Pay Range 96,500. USD Annual
