Position: Tax Manager or Tax Director (BOE)

Our client, a dynamic and expanding wealth advisory firm in Morris County, NJ, is seeking a Tax Manager or Tax Director (BOE) to launch and lead their tax services platform for high-net-worth clients. As the first dedicated tax hire, this highly visible position offers the rare opportunity to shape and build the function—owning relationships with clients, financial advisors, and compliance partners while paving the way for the growth of a new tax advisory team.

The focus is on impact, strategic partnership, and excellent service, not on volume or timesheet metrics.

The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $225,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver bespoke tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and business entities
  • Manage all aspects of tax preparation—including coordination and review with offshore teams—and ensure timely, accurate filing of returns (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120-S)
  • Lead direct client meetings to address tax planning questions, provide recommendations, and support strategic outcomes
  • Collaborate with internal financial advisors and teams to deliver an integrated approach to wealth and tax management
  • Identify planning opportunities and tax efficiencies through in-depth review and analysis of returns
  • Research complex technical issues and deliver practical, client-focused guidance in collaboration with advisors
  • Mentor and train junior team members as the tax department expands
  • Execute and lead special projects at the direction of senior leadership
Job Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience as a Tax Manager, Senior Tax Manager, or similar role within public accounting or an RIA/wealth management setting
  • Active CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Broad and deep knowledge of tax compliance and planning for individuals, S-corps, partnerships, and trusts
  • Prior experience managing offshore tax preparation teams preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with experience using Holistiplan a plus
  • Outstanding judgment, communication skills, and relationship management ability
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, client service-oriented environment
