Job Description

The Procedural Faculty in Family Medicine is responsible for providing high-quality clinical care while teaching and supervising family medicine residents and medical students, with a focus on office-based procedures and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). This role includes direct patient care, procedural instruction, curriculum development, and mentorship to ensure learners develop procedural competency and adhere to evidence-based clinical practices. The procedural faculty plays a key role in advancing medical education, promoting patient safety, and supporting the mission of the residency training program.

Responsibilities

Teaching Office-Based Procedures
  • Instruct family medicine residents and medical students in performing office-based procedures relevant to primary care.
  • Demonstrate and ensure adherence to best practices and evidence-based techniques.
Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Training
  • Supervise and teach the use of POCUS for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the primary care setting.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance proficiency in relevant ultrasound applications.
Mentorship And Supervision
  • Provide hands‑on supervision to residents and students during clinical procedures.
  • Offer constructive feedback and guidance to foster professional growth and skill development.
Curriculum Development
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and update curricula for procedural and ultrasound training in family medicine.
  • Ensure educational content aligns with current guidelines and advances in primary care.
Quality And Safety
  • Promote a culture of patient safety and quality improvement in procedural care.
  • Model and instill professional and ethical standards in clinical practice.

Pay Transparency

St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.
