Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software solutions requiring general domain knowledge and specialized business experience.
• Implement architecture components alongside distributed business and technical resources and external vendors.
• Analyze user requirements, make decisions within limited parameters under regular supervision.
• Build and maintain large‑scale enterprise data solutions to meet business needs.
• Analyze large data sets to provide recommendations on processing.
• Develop and maintain applications that process, analyze, and report on large data sets.
• Implement Big Data pipelines using AWS technologies (EMR, Glue, etc.).
• Write and review ETL/ELT jobs in Scala with Apache Spark.
• Support and lead projects within organization, including medium‑size system components.
• Review complex functional specifications and deliverables.
• Implement automated unit tests and support QA in acceptance tests.
• Debug pipeline code and implement fixes.
• Locate, analyze, and document performance issues in cloud pipelines, propose remedies.
• Provide peer support and help onboard new engineers.
• Collaborate with Product Owner, Scrum Master, Dev Ops, developers, and testers in Agile teams.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve platform and practices.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
• At least 3 years experience developing data applications with Scala and Spark.
• Three years of experience with Scala Spark, PySpark, Hive, or Airflow; AWS big data technologies (EMR, Glue); writing clean, testable code in Scala, SQL, and Terraform.
• Experience implementing automated unit tests.
• Experience working in Agile environment.
• Experience designing small to medium system components.

Salary Range: $135,000 – $155,000 per year.
