Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment (e.g., Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Hexagon, or similar) using PC-DMIS
    , Calypso
    , or other relevant software.
  • Conduct detailed dimensional inspections of plastic injection-molded components
    , tooling, and assemblies per engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer requirements.
  • Interpret and apply engineering blueprints
    , 3D CAD models
    , and technical specifications to inspection processes.
  • Maintain, verify, and calibrate measurement equipment to ensure accuracy and traceability.
  • Generate and document First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs),
    PPAP documentation
    , and other quality control reports.
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and tool room teams to identify and resolve dimensional or process-related quality issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing data and recommending process adjustments or improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or technical training preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in dimensional inspection or CMM programming, preferably in an injection molding or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T,
    blueprint reading
    , and metrology principles
    .
  • Experience with measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, height gauges, vision systems, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred:

  • Experience with CAD software (Solid Works, Creo, or similar).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001
    , IATF 16949
    , or other quality management systems.
  • Background in plastic part dimensional control or mold qualification processes.
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and occasional standing or lifting (up to 40 lbs).
  • Regular collaboration with production, toolroom, and engineering departments.
