The Mixer is responsible for accurately staging, weighing, batching, and mixing ingredients according to defined formulas, process parameters, and SOPs to ensure products meet all quality, safety, and specification standards. This role is critical to maintaining formulation accuracy, preventing cross-contamination, and ensuring full compliance with GMPs, HACCP controls, allergen control, and regulatory requirements in a food manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ingredient Preparation & Batching- Stage, verify, and weigh ingredients according to approved formulas, recipes, and master batch sheets.
- Confirm ingredient identity, lot codes, allergen status, and expiration dates to ensure full traceability and prevent misformulation.
- Maintain strict adherence to required tolerances for weight, temperature, mix times, pH, viscosity, and other critical parameters.
- Operate mixers, blenders, pumps, and related equipment following SOPs, operating parameters, and process control limits.
- Monitor mixing cycles to ensure product consistency and compliance with Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs).
- Perform in-process checks such as texture, consistency, temperature, and homogeneity; elevate any Out-of-Specification (OOS) results.
- Document any deviations or unusual conditions immediately.
- Follow all GMP requirements, including:
- Proper hygiene, gowning, and handwashing
- Allergen segregation and contamination prevention
- Equipment cleaning and sanitation rules
- Preventing cross-contact, foreign material contamination, and microbial risks
- Maintain compliance with all HACCP, Allergen Control, Foreign Material Control, and Sanitation Zone expectations.
- Report any food safety hazard, sanitation issue, or equipment malfunction promptly to Supervisor or QA.
- Complete batch logs, ingredient usage forms, mixing charts, and digital records accurately and in real time.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory, audit readiness, and traceability requirements.
- Confirm all ingredient usage matches the correct lot numbers and quantities to maintain COA alignment and trace-back accuracy.
- Perform pre-operation equipment inspections to ensure mixers, scales, and tools are clean, functional, and sanitized.
- Alert maintenance to any mechanical issues, abnormal noises, or performance changes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in alignment with 5S, environmental safety, and sanitation standards.
- Assist with equipment tear-down and cleaning following SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures).
