Montclair Community Pre-K is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Nurse to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive health services to young children (ages 3-5), ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort during their time r expertise will support a nurturing environment where children can thrive physically, emotionally, and developmentally.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Conduct health assessments as needed and maintain the physical well-being of children who visit the Medical Office throughout the day
• Administer medications in accordance with physician instructions and state guidelines
• Provide emergency care in case of sudden illness and administer first-aid in case of injury to students or staff according to established policies and procedures.
• Manage inventory of required medical supplies and equipment
• Maintain accurate health records, incident/accident reports, Worker’s Comp forms and Action Plans/Emergency Medication Information for students with chronic medical conditions including Diabetes, Allergies, Asthma or Seizures
• Communicate with families regarding accidents/injuries, illness, medications administered or any medical care received
• Maintain records of all children and adults seen in the Medical Office.
• Conduct vision, hearing, dental, height, and weight screenings annually.
• Educate staff and parents on health protocols, hygiene practices, and injury prevention strategies
• Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and health regulations for early childhood programs.
• Collaborate with the Admin Team on matters pertaining to the health and safety of students Participate in the development and implementation of the school's emergency and crisis management plan and Health and Safety policies and protocols
• Serve as a health/safety education resource to students, staff and families.
• Consult with local health experts, agencies and doctors to provide information and clarify policy
• Provides training and supervision of the emergency administration of epinephrine and glucagon for designated school staff.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education and participation in other professional development activities. Receives training in the treatment of asthma and maintains a valid current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate as required by law and administrative code.
• Report any suspicion of child abuse to Division of Child Protection and Permanency and building principal or his/her designee.
• Monitor the AED weekly and replace battery/pads when needed, lead Code Blue Team in regular drills
• Maintains emergency bag and equipment

Experience/Skills

• Valid nursing license (RN or LPN)
• Prior experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, elementary school or summer camp settings is highly desirable
• Knowledge of childhood development, behavior management and early intervention strategies
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with parents, staff, and healthcare providers
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
