Harris is looking for a Quality Engineer to join its operations organization in Clifton, New Jersey. The role works independently and drives FRB/MRB activities to closure, generates relevant metrics, and presents them to internal and external customers. The engineer provides guidance, coaching, and training to other employees, manages complex projects, and collaborates with Program Management, OMPs, and Quality Leadership to report status and process improvements.

The position focuses on continuous improvement and Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) execution and partners with other functions to achieve efficient resolution of issues without compromising quality.

Essential Functions
  • Analyze defect data and implement data driven corrective actions
  • Drive continued improvement of the quality system and manufacturing processes
  • Present corrective actions and process improvements to internal and external audiences
  • Review, interpret, and ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, engineering drawings, customer contract requirements, and product test procedures
  • Lead containment of nonconforming material and partner with Supplier Quality Engineering to initiate RTV for root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Interface within the quality engineering team and across the various functions within their assigned program
  • Revise and improve manufacturing work instructions resulting in measurable impact
  • Initiate and review engineering design changes
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering in defect dispositioning of hardware and provide corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Provide return to print engineering dispositions for non-conforming product
  • Manage and coordinate material review board (MRB) dispositions for non-conforming product
  • Participate in bi-weekly Corrective Action Review Board (CAB)
  • Lead Quality projects in the reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Proven track record of driving significant quality improvements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient with quality engineering software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Security Clearance required upon hire:

Preferred Additional Skills
  • Knowledge or Certifications in IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620 Workmanship Standards.
  • Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or Six Sigma Black Belt are highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey area is $84,000.00 - $. L3
