Position

Painter

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to perform skilled work of the painter trade. Responsibilities include hanging wall coverings, preparing surfaces for painting, applying paints (latex, oils, etc.), and replacing broken glass. The painter works with other trades during remodeling to perform maintenance and repair for a secure mental hospital with approximately 750 patients and over one million square feet of space.

The painter follows facilities tool and sharps policies and the responsibilities outlined in the Painter classification series and job profile specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Hang wall coverings.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Apply paints using various tools.
  • Replace broken glass, cut glass to size, clean and refit to sash.
  • Install wall coverings, including murals, wallpaper, and protective coverings.
  • Maintain an inventory of materials and report needs to supervisor or lead person.
  • Work with other trades during remodeling.
Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Completed painter apprenticeship training and be a journey worker, OR three years of varied painting experience.

  • Experience installing wall coverings (murals, wallpaper, protective coverings).
  • Experience maintaining an inventory of materials and reporting needs.
Additional Details
  • This is an in‑office position.
  • Employment is contingent upon a criminal records check and a driving records check that meets OHA criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.
  • The salary listed is the non‑PERS qualifying range. If the successful candidate qualifies for PERS, the salary range will increase by 6.95 %.

  • This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Hiring requires completion of I‑9 documentation and confirmation of work authorization.
  • Outside resources, including AI tools, are not permitted during assessments or interviews.
