Job Description & How to Apply Below
- Business Partnership: Partner directly with business stakeholders (brokers, underwriting, operations, product) to elicit requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- POC / MVP Delivery: Rapidly design and build Proof-of-Concept and Minimum Viable Product solutions using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and Cursor.
- Architecture & Design: Provide architectural direction for applications and data pipelines across .NET, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks.
- Technical Leadership: Lead, mentor, and review the work of a team of developers. Set technical standards, conduct design and code reviews, and unblock the team.
- Hands-on Engineering: Write production-quality code in C# / .NET, integrate with Azure services, and build / consume data products on Databricks where required.
- AI Tooling Adoption: Define and champion best practices for incorporating AI coding assistants into the SDLC — prompt patterns, review gates, and quality controls.
- Domain Translation: Apply P&C insurance domain knowledge (submissions, quoting, binding, policy admin, claims, reinsurance, ACORD standards) to shape pragmatic, business-aligned solutions.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in object-oriented design, distributed systems, and modern application architecture.
- Proven hands-on expertise in the Microsoft stack — C# / .NET (.NET Core / .NET 6+), ASP.NET, Web APIs, Entity Framework.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Azure SQL, Storage, Key Vault, Dev Ops / pipelines).
- Hands-on experience with Databricks — notebooks, Delta Lake, Spark (PySpark or Scala), and integration with downstream applications.
- Demonstrated experience working in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain — broker, carrier, MGA, or insurance technology vendor.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, Git Hub Copilot, or similar) to ship real software — not just experimentation.
- Proven people-management and technical leadership experience — guiding, mentoring, and being accountable for the output of a developer team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak comfortably with both engineers and senior business stakeholders.
- Experience with policy administration, rating, or broker management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, Sagitta, Duck Creek, Guidewire).
- Exposure to ACORD data standards, submission ingestion, or document automation.
- Experience designing AI / LLM-powered features (RAG, agents, document understanding) in a regulated enterprise setting.
- Background in Agile / Scrum delivery with strong Dev Ops discipline.
