We are seeking a seasoned Tech Lead (Java Payments) with deep expertise in modern Java engineering and large scale distributed systems. The ideal consultant is a proactive problem solver who anticipates risks, drives delivery, and brings strong engineering judgment to complex payment processing environments.

• Convert leadership direction into actionable engineering plans and drive them to completion.
• Think ahead‑identify dependencies, risks, and gaps before they impact delivery.
• Quickly unblock teams by engaging the right stakeholders; does not wait for answers.
• Apply critical thinking to challenge assumptions and propose stronger technical solutions.
• Lead design, development, and optimization of high throughput, low latency payment systems.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance across distributed processing environments.
• Leverage AI tools daily to accelerate development and improve engineering productivity.

• 10+ years of hands on enterprise software engineering experience.
• Expert‑level proficiency in modern Java (Java 17+), Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Strong experience with Kafka/MQ, distributed processing, or large scale data platforms.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases, SQL tuning, and data modeling.
• Strong experience with Oracle, IBM MQ, and event‑driven architectures.
• Proven background building or supporting high throughput, low latency payment systems.
• Experience in the financial services industry (banking, payments, capital markets, fintech).
• International and Domestic Payment transactions experience is a mandatory.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding engineering teams and influencing cross functional partners.
• Daily use of AI engineering tools with solid engineering judgment.

• Payment's domain experience: ACH, Wire, Instant Payments, RTP, Fed Now, etc.
• Experience in regulated or compliance heavy environments.

• Do NOT submit candidates without Payment Systems experience and prior Lead experience.
• Consultants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• No OPT / STEM OPT candidates.
• Selected candidates must be willing to work onsite in NYC/NJ.
