Role PurposeThe Ramp Supervisor is responsible for supervising the unloading and loading of luggage, freight, and cargo on and off commercial aircraft. The Ramp Supervisor also drives and operates small specialized commercial vehicles. This position requires heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching.
Responsibilities- Supervise lead agents and allocate ramp agent resources as needed.
- Move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it between aircraft, airport terminals, air cargo facilities, and other aircraft.
- Ensure that ramp personnel adhere to established company safety regulations.
- Act as a mentor to other employees and provide training to new employees.
- Interview, hire, and train employees; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems as needed for violations of company policy.
- Complete shift reports and sign timecards.
- Assist in the preparation of performance evaluation forms.
- Prepare disciplinary incident and/or termination reports.
- Assist in the baggage handling area.
- Conduct shift briefings to ensure staff is organized and informed.
- Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags.
- Operate motorized equipment.
You will have a responsibility and duty to take reasonable care of the health, safety, and well‑being of yourself and others in accordance with provided information, training, and workplace health and safety rules or procedures. - Prior ramp/airline experience required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Possess a valid US driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and all pre‑employment testing.
- Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English.
- Must be comfortable lifting 70 lbs repetitively.
- Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Must pass FBI background check and obtain US Customs Seal.
- Should be able to report any significant deficiency in our products, materials and documents.
- Has the duty to suggest improvements to working practices, especially those relating to safety and security.
- Must have read and signed the Station Quality Manual, Emergency Response Procedures Manual and the Station Security Manual.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
