Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY : The Student Assistant in Delta’s Registrar’s Office is a key team member supporting students and the College’s mission. This position provides outstanding customer service in person, via phone and email to all populations that we serve. This position is often the initial contact for students seeking Registration service at Delta College. Our Student Assistants must be solid communicators who possess exceptional customer service skills, a keen sense of urgency and a willingness to learn.
This position requires a person who is outgoing, a solid communicator, flexible and can positively represent the college.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING :
CUSTOMER SERVICE :
- Consistently display a Caring Campus/Service First attitude to all students, staff and guests.
- Assist students and visitors in person, by phone and e-mail.
- Provide accurate answers to questions about Delta College and available student services.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Assist students with immediate needs through hands-on teaching within Student Self-Service.
OFFICE PROCESSES :
- Reception desk duties – answering phones, taking messages, typing, emailing, faxing, scanning, filing, and processing mail.
- Use MS Office software and technology tools to accomplish daily tasks and assist users.
- Document all student requests in tracking software.
- Utilize Public Website, Inside Delta and Colleague to assist students and visitors.
- Report issues or concerns to Professional Staff.
- Exceptional customer service, written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to uphold the office’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Willingness to acquire a general understanding of the College policies and practices to better serve fellow students, campus departments, visiting community members and/or prospective students, as well as employers.
- Working knowledge of basic office equipment and machines, including but not limited to copiers, printers, scanners, phones, and computers.
- Self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong keyboarding skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Must be registered for and maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours during employment.
