Position SummarySupports the teacher and student to ensure the best possible learning experience for special‑education children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist an individual student one‑on‑one, in small groups, or in classroom under the supervision of the teacher.
- Assist students with completing academic tasks.
- Engage students with instructional activities developed by the teacher such as reading, writing, math, spelling, and life skills.
- Manage student behavior by properly implementing behavior management plans, including Crisis Intervention and Prevention training.
- Support monitoring, intervening, and redirecting student behaviors; prevent and deescalate behavior incidents.
- Assist students with personal needs including hygiene, diapering, toileting, and clothing.
- Familiarize yourself with individual student needs or behavior plans.
- Collect data related to behavior, academics, and instruction.
- Participate in professional development.
- Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions or explain information.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience- Experience working with children (required)

- Complete any necessary training for job responsibilities.
- Follow behavioral management plans or instruction programs.
- Read, write, and communicate effectively in English, including understanding safety instructions and emergency responses.
The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, or stand for long periods, run after students, stoop and bend for toileting, lift and move up to 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 90 pounds. Assist with movement of students with special needs, including positioning, lifting, and transferring. May assist with mobility equipment and help students on buses or field trips.

Pay and Effective DatePay: $17.75 to $18.04 per hour
