Machine Set-Up Operator

Spring Lake, MI

1st shift: 7am-3:05pm

2nd shift: 3pm-11:05pm

3rd shift: 11pm-7:05am

Pay rate: starting at $20/hr

Temp to hire

Duties
  • Perform production line start-ups and changeovers using efficient methods to minimize scrap and downtime.

  • Set up and operate Single, Dual, and Tri Extrusion production lines.

  • Complete multiple tooling changes during an 8-hour shift.

  • Install, adjust, and troubleshoot various die types, including Streamline, Flat Back, and Button dies.

  • Set up and operate sizing systems, including Profile Plates in Water Tanks, Vacuum Calibration Systems, and Air Racks with Plates.

  • Set up and monitor in-line lamination systems, including PSA and HATS.

  • Operate and adjust in-line cutting equipment, including Fly Knife Cutters, Puller/Cutter Combos, Saws, Guillotine Cutters, and Rotary Cutters.

  • Perform in-line punching, laser marking, and inkjet printing operations.

  • Respond promptly to Andon board requests to support production and minimize downtime.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and assist operators as needed.

  • Train and support production team members on proper setup procedures and best practices.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events and corrective actions.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by following 6S standards.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and other support teams.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Previous manufacturing experience required; extrusion setup experience preferred.

  • Tow motor (forklift) certification or the ability to obtain certification required.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot production equipment.

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, production documents, and specifications.

  • Basic computer skills, including data entry and navigation of internal software systems.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and management.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while following all company safety and quality procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products while meeting production goals.
