Quality Assurance Technician
We are on a mission to grow Second Nature Brands to $1+B in the next 2 years through a combination of organic growth and through M&A. We have an opening for a Quality Assurance Technician position, who will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth. This position will be based out of our Sanders Chocolate Factory 23770 Hall Road in Clinton Township, MI 48036.
This role ensures that all products meet company and regulatory quality and safety standards. This role involves monitoring production processes, conducting inspections and tests, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maintain compliance with food safety regulations. In addition, assist operations by managing the movement, storage, and distribution of finished goods. This role is essential in ensuring production runs smoothly and efficiently while maintaining food safety standards.
Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, morning shift 7:00a-3:30p weekday or weekend overtime as needed. The starting rate is $18.00 per hour.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Ensure that product is being made according to specifications by measuring and testing raw and finished products utilizing basic laboratory equipment.
- Place non-conforming products on hold for further inspection and disposition as needed.
- Check various measurements in accordance with SQF requirements and standards.
- Perform visual inspections and ATP swabs on equipment post sanitation.
- Perform Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits and monitor adherence to GMPs while on the production floor.
- Effectively communicate any issues to appropriate personnel (Packers, production, maintenance, etc.)
- Complete accurate QA documentation using electronic record keeping programs (ERP) and electronic inventory managements (EIM) systems.
- Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Q&FS (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety policies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Calculator and computer proficiency.
- English language proficiency.
- Self-directed.
- Ability to work well with peers and supervisors.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented, have good organizational skills, ability to follow directions and be able to work independently.
- Minimum 1-year previous food safety and quality assurance experience (Preferred)
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be high and employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment. This is an indoor food manufacturing setting.
